ESDF at a Glance

 

ESDF is governed by Educational & Social Development Foundation (ESDF) founded by SAMADHI NIKETANA situated in the province of UVA in SRI LANKA, which is valid & approved under act No.31 of 1980 as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1998. ESDF has been registered as a Voluntary Social Services/Non-Governmental Organizations, at the National Secretariat for Non-Governmental Organizations in the Ministry of Social Services, in Sri Lanka.(The copy of the Registration Certificate is enclosed herewith)

Please refer to the Constitution of the Organization, annexed here, for details and aims and objectives and other particulars of the organization.

While our main objective is to achieve the ideals focused in the annexed Constitution of the foundation, we actively engage in the fields of education, economic development training schemes, technology exchange, agriculture, fisheries industry, health and nutrition, population and family planning through specific project proposals implementation.

In addition we concentrate on projects covering child and women welfare and environment conservation and promoting communal harmony, human rights giving pride of place to these issues in implementing projects.

The Director, Secretary and the Treasurer together with four ordinary members from the Board of Executive Directorate who will make decisions prior to obtaining the authority of the entire membership of the main body. The Staff of the organization consist of 24 permanent officers offering their services on a voluntary basis while only the office clerk, Computer operator and peon are the only paid staff. The executive committee consists of seven members who are held responsible for all activities of the organization. The total membership is 127.  They are 71 females and 56 males.  The Committee consists of 4 females and three males and in appointing officials equal opportunities are given to both males and females.

We are happy to announce that we have implemented projects to bring relief to the poverty stricken, unemployed as well as victims of drought in the Uva, Eastern and Northern provinces offering relief even in a small way to the under mentioned.
